The Memorial Garden provides a place set apart on the church's grounds as a burial place for the ashes of cremation for church members, affiliate members, and/or members of their immediate families.
The Garden was formally dedicated on All Saints Day, October 31, 1982, and is rededicated each year on All Saints Day. The Garden is located by the north-west entrance of the church. A memorial board inside the foyer of Monteith Hall identifies those individuals whose ashes are buried in the Memorial Garden.
Requests for interment may be made at any time. One of the church's ministers should be consulted, and the office staff will then make arrangements for interment.
Ashes will be buried either without a container or in a biodegradable container. Funeral homes should be made aware of this decision.
A record is kept in the church office which identifies where individual cremains are interred. At the request of the deceased members's family, a service of committal may be conducted at the time of interment.
The cost to inter your loved one in the memorial garden is $350, which covers the annual upkeep of the Garden as well as a nameplate for your loved one. A designated fund for the Memorial Garden has been established for those wishing to contribute to the ongoing care of the garden. Questions concerning the administrative practices and policies pertaining to the Memorial Garden may be directed to the ministerial staff.
A Prayer of Committal
O Lord: support us all the day long, until the shadows lengthen and the evening comes, and the busy world is hushed, and the fever of life is over, and our work is done. then, in your mercy, grant us a save lodging, and a holy rest, and peace at the last; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (John Henry Newman, 1834)
