Child care will be provided to children 3 and younger for those who wish.

Donate a Poinsettia

Give a poinsettia to beautify worship on December 20 and 24 in honor or memory of a loved one. Poinsettias are $20 and can be ordered until noon on Friday, December 11. After worship on December 20, poinsettias will be delivered to those grieving or shut-in in our congregation. Questions? Contact the Church Office at (734) 662-4466.

Sign up for Gift of the Magi

At the birth of Jesus, wise men brought gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. During Advent and Christmas, we give gifts to one another to celebrate the birth of Jesus, just as the wise men did. Gift of the Magi is an Advent program where you/your family will build relationships and will share fellowship with other First Pres members and families.

How It Works

During Advent, you/your family will be paired with another First Pres individual, couple or family. For the individual, couple, or family assigned to you, you commit to do three things:

College Of Elders Meeting

Past or present Elders, you are invited to this special session of the College of Elders designed to refresh our appreciation for our Presbyterian form of government. The morning opens with worship followed by a plenary session “Principles of Presbyterian Government: Polity Applications for Today,” led by Rev. H. Carson Rhyne, former Presbytery Stated Clerk of the Presbytery of the James, Richmond,Virginia & Polity Instructor. Two concurrent workshops follow, elders can choose one to attend.

Blessing of the Backpacks

On Sunday, September 3, all of the children of our congregation are invited to bring their school backpack with them to church and worship. During “A Time With Young Disciples” the children’s talk will focus on the children starting back to school. We will offer a blessing and prayers for children as they make the transition to new classes. Their backpacks are the symbol that represents this transition. Each of the children will be given a token to put on their backpacks to remind them that their church family is thinking of them and praying for them as they start the new school year.

Flu Shot Clinic

Flu season is once again upon us, and First Presbyterian will offer a flu vaccine clinic Rite-Aid Pharmacy on Sunday October 16 from 10:30 a.m. to noon in the Curtis Room. No sign up is required. Cost is $32.99 and is covered by most insurances. High dose vaccine (for those over age 65) is $69.99, and covered by Medicare Part B. Bring ALL insurance and Medicare cards with you. Contact Sandy Talbott, Parish Nurse, for more information at 662-4466, ext. 350 or stalbott@firstpresbyterian.org.

Blessing of the Animals

On Sunday, July 1, join us for a special Blessing of the Animals at the 9:30 a.m. outdoor worship service. All well-behaved creatures that walk, swim, hop, slither, and fly are welcome. For the safety of all, please leash all pets which are not otherwise contained. Gifts of pet food will be gratefully accepted and donated to the Huron Valley Humane Society.

“For every wild animal of the forest belongs to God, the cattle on a thousand hills. God knows all the birds of the air, and all that moves in the field is God’s.” Psalm 50:10-11
