About the Exhibit

The Stations of the Cross is a traditional practice of remembering Christ’s passion, crucifixion, death, and resurrection with roots in the early pilgrimages to Jerusalem. There are a total of fifteen stations depicting Jesus’ journey to the cross, his crucifixion, and his resurrection. During Lent we invited the First Pres’ artistic community to interpret each station through a variety of media and creative expression. We employed the theme of “Jesus the Refugee,” using migration and displacement as a lens to discuss what this journey looked like for Jesus as a refugee and to explore what similar journeys of struggle, violence, and hardship look like in the world today.
