Sunday, January 24, 2016

“Heavenly Calling, Earthly Work: Mission {Re}imagined,” is a weekend conference held by the Mission Committee at First Pres, January 22 – 24, with the goal of developing a shared vision our church’s mission in the community and the world. All members and friends are invited to two days of learning, conversation, and imagination. The conference is designed to engage the imagination, transform the practices, and energize the members of First Pres to create a vision, and then bring that vision to reality.

Rev. Dr. Clifton Kirkpatrick, Professor of World Christianity and Ecumenical Studies and the William A. Benfield Jr. Professor of Evangelism and Global Missions at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary will be our facilitator and preacher for the Mission Reimagined Conference.

  • Friday, January 22 - In the morning, explore the contributions of our global and local mission teams. After lunch, make site visits to three active, local missions to appreciate the gifts of our varied mission teams.
  • Saturday, January 23 - Gather for a keynote presentation by Cliff Kirkpatrick, and then meet for shared dialogue and planning.
  • Sunday, January 24 - Rev. Dr. Clifton Kirkpatrick is the guest preacher at 9:30 and 11:00 a.m. His sermon is titled “A Transformed Church for the Transformation of the World.”
