Rev. Dr. Jason Santos: University Sunday, September 22

Sunday, September 22, 2019

Preaching, Lunch, & An Intergenerational Game Night! Preaching at 9:30 & 11:00 a.m. - The Rev. Dr. Jason Santos, Mission Coordinator for Christian Formation and Small Church Support at the PC(USA) Mission Agency preaches on "Cultivating a Communal Calling" on September 22 at 9:30 & 11:00 a.m.

According to Santos, for the last half-century, we’ve increasingly formed our children and youth through developmentally centered, peer-oriented ministry programs that removed them from the corporate life of the church. Recent research suggests that we might have taken the ages and stages model of ministry a little too far. In the spirit of transforming and strengthening our congregations, Rev. Dr. Santos explores the changing history of the church’s identity and offers practical strategies to create a more communal and intergenerational understanding of spiritual formation.

Dr. Santos is the Mission Coordinator for Christian Formation and Small Church Support at the Presbyterian Mission Agency. He is an ordained teaching elder in the Presbyterian Church (USA), holds a Ph.D. in practical theology from Princeton Theological Seminary, and is the author of A Community Called Taizé (IVP, 2008) and After Paradise (IVP Academic, forthcoming). Dr. Santos lives in Louisville, Kentucky, with wife Shannon and his two sons, Judah and Silas (aka Tutu).
