Liturgical / Visual Art Worskshop

Saturday, October 12, 2019

Join us for a Liturgical/Visual Art Workshop on Saturday, October 12, 9:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. with Guest Artist, Ellen Phillips from Black Mountain, NC. All are welcome! $15 per person will cover snacks, light lunch and art materials. We will create art that will be used in the Sanctuary during the season of Advent. For more information, contact Dave VanderMeer, Minister of Music & Fine Arts: dvandermeer@firstpresbyterian.org, 734-662-4466, ext. 347.

So, what is Liturgical/Visual Art? Liturgical Art expresses in various medium (fabric, quilting, weaving, paper-lace, paint, etc.) what words don’t capture. Liturgical art supports the scripture texts or theme of the day in worship. Visual artists invite us to notice the depth of creation, and the ways in which created things disclose the glory of God.
