About Wednesday 2:42
Our 2012 Winter All-Church midweek program runs Janurary 25 to March 21. Each Wednesday, you can enjoy a great meal at 6 p.m. followed by amazing adult education from pastors and lay leaders who love to teach the gospel, theology, and Biblical history.
We are living out Acts 2:42:
"They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer."
What happens at 2:42?
- 5 p.m. - Children's Choir, MIDS (middle school youth program), Adult Education Class "Bible 101"
- 5:45 p.m. - Gathering and Song Fun in the Social Hall
- 6 p.m. - Dinner and Extraordinary Fellowship
- 7 p.m. - Adult Education, Elementary Fellowship, Lenten Study, Grief and Loss Support Group
Adult Education Offerings, January 25 - March 21
Bible 101: TheNewTestament at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. (Vance Room)
Come to the Vance Room and explore the New Testament. No experience necessary! Books are available for purchase in class. Led by Rev. Brennan Pearson and Mary Elizabeth Prentice-Hyers.
The Confessions – All Semester, 7 p.m. (Monteith Hall)
What is a creed? a catechism? a confession? Did you know that the Presbyterian Church has a two part constitution which includes a Book of Confessions? Did you know that these eleven documents cover almost 2,000 years of theological thought? How has our thinking changed over the centuries? Led by Rev. Dr. Fairfax Fair and Rev. Kent Palmquist
Grief and Loss Support Group – January 25 to February 15, 7 p.m. (Room 101)
For those who have lost loved ones or are coping with other kinds of loss, we will gather for four weeks to learn about the stages of grief, and to find guidance, insight, help, and mutual support in community. Led by Rev. Melissa Anne Rogers
Faith & Film – January 25 to February 15, 7 p.m. (Lewis Room)
Join us for discussion and an exploration of popular and lesser-known films that explore faith and other theological issues relevant to our culture and lives as Christians. These four classes will consist of watching film clips with short presentations, and lots of opportunities for interaction. Led by Rev. Evans McGowan
Lenten Study: Passion for Pilgrimage: Notes for the Journey Home by Alan Jones – February 29 to March 21, 7 p.m. (Lewis Room)
A spiritual pilgrimage is a search for home that is in God. Using literature, art, and biblical texts as illustrations, Alan Jones explores our search for light and love, repentance, and forgiveness in the context of the Passion and Easter stories. Led by staff.
Wednesday 2:42 Dinner Helpers Needed
Our wonderful mid-week program, Wednesday 2:42, starts up again on January 25. Each week, Chef Christine prepares delicious 2:42 dinners. If you like good food and making friends, come and join Chef Christine's 2:42 kitchen crew! Volunteers are welcome to assist at at one dinner or several.
The 2:42 dates are: Jan. 25, Feb. 1, 8, 15, 29, March 7, 14, 21. Shifts are from 4:00-6:15 p.m. Please contact Jennifer Sansbury at 662-4466 ext. 343 or at jsansbury@firstpresbyterian.
