Aeolian Chorale will present Madrigals, Motets and More: An evening of a cappella choral music on Sunday, August 27 at 4:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary at First Pres with Marshall Dicks, director, and First Pres member Tom Brandt as a singer in the ensemble. A free will offering will be taken.
The Aeolian Chorale was formed in the summer of 2014. Now in its fourth season, the chorale is developing a reputation as an a cappella chorus of exceptional quality. The chorus continues to expand its repertoire and increase the number of venues at which it performs. This year alone we have added 14 new pieces of repertoire and performed in 3 new locations, namely the Cathedral Church of St. Paul, Detroit; Christ Episcopal Church, Dearborn, and St. James Lutheran Church, Grosse Pointe Farms. We are also returning to perform at Allen Park Presbyterian Church, the First Presbyterian Church of Ann Arbor, and Angelica Lutheran Church in Allen Park.
The choir will be finalizing their filings to become a non-profit performing arts organization this fall. We hope to become involved in area school districts and look forward to working with music educators in the Southeast Michigan area. We are also hoping to make our first tour, to the Traverse City area in the summer of 2018.
