Updates from First Pres Medical Mission workers in Haiti

Update from Dick Stuber: Dick reports that there is grace in the midst of chaos. Helicopters fly overhead while children fly kites. The people are resilient and hopeful. He has been fixing water pipes on the grounds of the nursing school, and the electric wiring in the chapel on the hospital grounds. One of the supplies he brought with him was a hard hat, so whenever Dean Alcindor gets a non-medical question, she says, "Go see the man in the yellow hat." Dick's next project will be to construct a fence around the water tower. The tower has the potential of collapsing and the fence will prevent people from coming too close and being injured if the tower were to fall.

Update from Lisa Johnson and "Team Ange": Lisa is working very hard with Team Ange in Cayes-Jacmel. The team is considered the best medical team in southern Haiti; they are working 14-hour days to keep up with the patients that are being transferred from around the area to be seen by them. In the first week they saw over 800 patients and delivered a baby. Lisa plans to stay with this team until February 12, and then lend her considerable skills to the relief effort in Leogane.

We thank the congregation for it's generous response to the devastating earthquake in Haiti, evidenced by the $36,126 in monetary donations, plus contributions of 120 hygiene Kits and 27 Baby Kits. Thank you everyone for your enthusiastic support.
