FROM THE PASTOR: Coming together for Fall

After several years of listening and visioning, of staff building and direction setting, of work groups and task forces, I find myself excited and energized by the plans that are finally coming together for fall. Here are a few of the ministries, activities, and plans that we have for the coming year. They are all coming as the result of many months (and years) of planning and prayer:

  • a new small group ministry, with the formation of several new small groups
  • "Wednesday 242" (the redesign and re-launching of our mid-week program)
  • permanent name tags (and of course the emphasis on becoming a more welcoming and hospitable church)
  • a totally re-designed web site with a new look and new capabilities
  • a new director of campus ministry (who will take our recently-adopted "Ascent Model" to a new level of effectiveness)
  • a new director of youth ministry (who will build on the momentum and growth of the last two years)
  • several nationally-recognized guest speakers and preachers (watch the newsletter for more information)
  • continued growth in Stephen Ministry
  • expansion of the popular Advent and Lenten all-church studies
  • a growing identity as a "teaching church" through continued participation in the Lilly residency program
  • a growing identity as a "missional church" with a new (and still unfolding) understanding of mission
  • a master plan for the church property The Stewardship Committee, in addition to the usual mailings and announcements, has planned a series of meetings for the fall that will help you get up to speed with all the new ministries, activities, and plans.

Please watch your mailbox for the dates and times of these meetings and then plan to take part.
