New Mexico Mission Trip is June 17-25. We will be painting two homes and a homeless shelter. We will also be building one or two wheelchair ramps. Nights will be spent in a local elementary school in Las Cruces, NM's third largest city. We will visit Carlsbad Caverns and spend two nights at a camp in the Sacramento Mountains. This is a great trip with 42 high school students (29 from our church) in partnership with First Presbyterian Church, Boise, Idaho.
The High School Ministry is led by Rev. Dr. Jim Monnett (RJ), the Director of Youth Ministry, jmonnett@firstpresbyterian.org. I am an ordained Presbyterian Church USA pastor with over 10 years of youth ministry experience (and 15 years as a pastor). I recently received my Doctor of Ministry in pastoral theology from Louisville Seminary. My project work was in training adult lay leaders for effective youth mission trips.
Christina is ready to "get her wall" with her sledgehammer as we reduced a ramshackle home to 8 dumpsters in a week during the Florida Mission Trip, January 1-8, in Immokalee, Florida. Fourteen students and four leaders returned to Immokalee for our second Christmas break mission trip.
