Chronology of Development and Change

The original Church building was built in 1937, consisting of the Church functions and a student activity (Lemon) wing. In1955, a three-story classroom addition (Kuizenga Wing) was built perpendicular to the west elevation of the Lemon Wing accompanied by a 50 percent increase in membership to over 2,200. In 1997, a one-story multi-purpose addition was built on the south side of the Kuizenga Wing (Monteith Hall). As part of this expansion, a canopy was constructed on the west side of the Lemon wing, covering a new barrier-free ramp, as well as remodeling within the Kuizenga wing and much-needed structural repairs. A raised courtyard between Monteith Hall and the Lemon wing was also completed, making up the „Forward in Faith” component of work. Beginning in 2002, stone restoration began on the Sanctuary buttresses and various other locations around the building, along with repair and replacement of portions of the slate roof. As of this day (April 2008), the last component of masonry restoration has begun on the Kuizenga Wing, including cleaning and replacing cracked stone on the façade.
