Christmas Eve Offering will help support Haiti School of Nursing
The First Presbyterian Mission Committee has designated the Haiti School of Nursing in Leogane as the recipient of this year's Christmas Eve offering. Members of First Pres were instrumental in starting the school, which is the first 4-year baccalaureate nursing school in Haiti. It opened in 2005, has 127 students, and is about to graduate its first class in January.
When four major hurricanes struck Haiti this year, washing out roads and bridges, students from the school worked with flood victims in mobile clinics, doing mission among their own people. Now, costs have increased at the school because the adjacent Hopital Ste. Croix has been closed for several months, forcing students and instructors to travel to other hospitals and clinics for clinical experience. Also, storm damage and world conditions have created food shortages and increased food costs at the school.
The proceeds of the Christmas Eve offering will be given to the School of Nursing to meet these extra costs and provide support to the students. Please participate in the offering!
