Ed Koster, who has taught many Bible classes at the church, is Stated Clerk of the Presbytery of Detroit, and who ran for Stated Clerk of the General Assembly in 2008, has written a book based on his intimate knowledge of the structure and procedures of the Presbyterian Church. In this book he identifies four factors that he feels inhibit discerning the will of God: distrust, polarization, politicking, and ineffective discernment processes.
