Celebration and symposium at the Michigan Theater to honor Ruth Barnard

The Haiti Nursing Foundation is sponsoring a celebration of Ruth Barnard's remarkable work in spearheading the establishment of the Nursing School in Haiti. The celebration will be held at the Michigan Theater on Saturday, April 4, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. The celebration will include an informal symposium entitled, "Global Health: Haiti." The keynote speakers are Dr. Elizabeth Nabel, Director of the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, and Dr. Gary Nabel, Director of Vaccine Research Center at the National Institutes of Health. Hilda Alcindor, Dean of FSIL (Faculte des Sciences Infirmieres de Leogane) will also be present. A short program and reception will follow the symposium.

The next day a Palm Sunday Brunch in Ruth's honor will be held at the home of Ruth and Thomas Knoll from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. For more information and reservations contact Marcia Lane, (734) 353-9565 or mlane@haitinursing.org.
