Blood pressure screenings at First Pres
The parish nurse and First Presbyterian nurses will be offering blood pressure screenings on all Sundays in October: October 5, October 12, October 19 and October 26 from 10:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. in the campus intern office by the French Room.
Why should you get your blood pressure checked? High blood pressure (Hypertension) usually has no symptoms but it can hurt your body in many ways. It adds to the workload of your heart and arteries. Hypertension increases your risk of a stroke and can damage your kidneys and eyes. Uncontrolled high blood pressure can lead to coronary heart disease and congestive heart failure.
How do you know if you have high blood pressure? There's only one definite way to find out: get your blood pressure checked!
Please contact Martine Blogin, parish nurse at 662-4466, ext 26 or mblogin@firstpresbyterian.org with questions. For more information on hypertension, check the American Heart Association website: www.americanheart.org.
