Wednesday 2:42

"I am" classes

There will be a series of seven classes after the 2:42 dinner on the "I am" sayings of Jesus. On February 3 the topic will be "I am the bread of life."  The classes start about 7:00 p.m. in Monteith Hall, last one hour, and will be taught by members of the Pastoral staff.  If you can, come for dinner before the classes!

Wednesday 2:42 starts this week!

Our mid-week dinner cum fellowship, cum choir, cum classes, will begin it's winter-spring semester this week, on January 27.  Come at 5:00 for Children's Choirs, Mids, or Praying the Psalms.  Come at 6:00 for dinner and fellowship, and stay for adult education classes, elementary fellowship, preschool childcare, Youth Choir, TnT, or New Member Class, all of which begin at 7:00.  The cost is $40 for meals for the semester, or a maximum of $150 for a family.  Meals can also be purchased individually with advance notice.  We hope to see everybody there!

We want you!

We want you--to be part of the 2:42 kichen crew! Our next semester of "Wednesday 2:42" begins on January 27, and there are going to be a lot of hungry folk eager for the delicious dinners that 2:42 has become known for. Our cook, Christine Miller, needs help in preparing those dinners, either seasoned 2:42 veterans or "newbies." Enjoy being part of a great team, frequently, or once if your time is limited. Please contact Jennifer Sansbury by email or phone (662-4466, ext. 16) to sign up.  The shift is normally from 4:00 to 6:15 p.m.

Extraordinary Thanksgiving Worship at 2:42

Wednesday 2:42 classes continue

The Adult Education classes offered as part of Wednesday 2:42 will include one new class and one continuing class.  The Rev. Kent Palmquist will continue leading discussions on "The Parables of Jesus," and the Rev. Larry Farris will lead "Larry and the Lillies" with Lilly Residents Jenny McDevitt, Matthew Nickel, and Sarah Wiles. Both series of classes will be held October 28, November 4, and November 11 at 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Both classes are open to all, whether or not you attended previous meetings.

A service for wholeness and healing

On October 21, in conjunction with Wednesday 2:42, there will be an Extraordinary Worship service, this time a Service of Wholeness and Healing. Gather for worship, communion, prayers for healing and anointing with oil, and meditative music and reflection. The service will be held in the Sanctuary at 7:00 p.m. For more information, contact the Rev. Melissa Anne Rogers, Director of Pastoral Care, by email or by phoning 662-4466, ext. 12.

Wednesday 2:42 class studies parables of Jesus

On Wednesday, October 7, the Rev. Kent Palmquist, an ordained minister of the Evangelical Covenant Church and a regular attender at First Pres, will start a series of classes on the Parables of Jesus. The class will look at a sampling of the forty-plus parables in the Bible, notice the various types, and explore how and why Jesus used such stories as his primary teaching tool. All are welcome. Come to as many classes as you can!

Extraordinary worship: a Lenten service of wholeness and healing

On March 18, the Extraordinary Worship Service that follows the Wednesday 2:42 dinner will be a "Service of Wholeness and Healing." In this time together we'll seek the presence and power of the Holy Spirit to meet whatever needs we bring. In prayers of thanksgiving and intercession, through the Sacrament of Communion, and in small groups, we'll give thanks that God provides for us. This is a unique worship opportunity to know the powerful presence of the Lord, and the healing that only Jesus can provide. Join us at 7:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary for this meaningful and meditative service.
