Calling all medical personnel!

First Presbyterian will be sending a medical team to Leogane, Haiti to help in the inpatient wards and outpatient clinic at the mobile hospital in Leogane. The trip will be May 1 to 10, 2010.

Ways to help with Haiti relief

There are many ways to help with the Haiti Earthquake Relief.
1) Donate Money.  Checks can be make out to First Presbyterian Church with "Haiti Earthquake Relief" on the memo line, or you may contribute through our online gifts/payment page. Donations will be sent directly to our medical and nursing colleagues in Leogane, Haiti, to assist with purchasing supplies for disaster relief.
2) Prepare and Donate Disaster Assistance Kits. Kit descriptions can be found outside the church office, or at the Welcome Center.

Disaster Kits for Haiti

PCUSA is suggesting that those with a calling to do some stateside "hands on" work use their talents to assemble Disaster Assistance Kits that can be forwarded though PCUSA to Haiti.

If the spirit moves you here are the two kits that they need:

Hygiene Kit

1 - hand towel (approx 16 x 28 - no fingertip or bath towels)
1 - washcloth
1- wide tooth comb

Medical Mission Task Force is going to Haiti

The Medical Mission Task Force is going to Haiti From May 16 to May 23 to provide mobile health clinics for those in need. They welcome the donation of a wide variety of items. Celebration and symposium at the Michigan Theater to honor Ruth Barnard

The Haiti Nursing Foundation is sponsoring a celebration of Ruth Barnard's remarkable work in spearheading the establishment of the Nursing School in Haiti. The celebration will be held at the Michigan Theater on Saturday, April 4, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. The celebration will include an informal symposium entitled, "Global Health: Haiti." The keynote speakers are Dr. Elizabeth Nabel, Director of the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, and Dr. Gary Nabel, Director of Vaccine Research Center at the National Institutes of Health.
