First Presbyterian's next host week at Alpha House, a local family shelter on Jackson Road, begins at the start of the Christmas season, November 29 to December 5.

First Presbyterian will provide hosting at Alpha House (a family shelter on Jackson Road) April 5-11, the week of local area schools’ Spring Break.

The Alpha House Task Force needs your help! Our Alpha House coordinators will be out of town the week of April 5-11, when First Pres is next scheduled to provide hosting at Alpha House. We need one or more persons from First Pres to be the liaisons between Alpha House and our volunteers during that week.  The volunteer coordinator at Alpha House has offered to help in any way she can. If you are, or might be, willing to help fill the role of liaison that week, please email Nancy Vander Kuyl.

The Alpha House shelter has a special need for overnight volunteers during the last two weeks of December. Please contact Nancy VanderKuyl by email or phone (741-1814) if you can help out during this busy holiday season, or if you would like to join the task force.

The week of November 30 through December 6 marks First Presbyterian's third host week of the year at Alpha House, a shelter for Washtenaw County families located on Ann Arbor's West Side on Jackson Road. The Alpha House Task Force is seeking volunteers to sign up for evening or weekend babysitting, meal making and overnight stays. You may sign up in the Social Hall or the Welcome Center, or contact Nancy VanderKuyl, or Barb Ladewski.

You are invited to "Gimme Shelter," IHN @ Alpha House,'s annual fundraiser, on Saturday, October 17, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. in the Morris Lawrence Building of Washtenaw Community College. The party features great food, great entertainment, and a large silent auction. Tickets are on sale for $45 in advance and $50 at the door; children six and under are free. First Pres's spring commitment week at Alpha House, the temporary shelter for homeless families in Washtenaw county, is May 4-10. Look for the sign-up poster in the Social Hall. Please consider those in our community in need, and sign up to volunteer for Alpha House, the family shelter on Jackson Road. Our next assigned week is December 1-7. Volunteer duties include hosting/babysitting, meal preparation and overnight stays at the shelter. Look for the singnup poster in the Welcome Center or in the Social Hall after the 9:30 a.m. service.
